I applied for a frontend role at Doist and was genuinely excited about the opportunity. I spent hours researching the company, aligning my application with their core values, and tailoring every answer to show how well I fit with their culture and needs. I gave it my 100%. What disappointed me the most wasn’t the rejection itself, that’s part of the process — but the lack of transparency. Their job description clearly stated that every applicant would receive individual feedback. Naturally, I expected at least a short explanation about what could’ve been improved. Instead, after waiting over four weeks (past the screening timeline they had mentioned), I received a generic rejection message with no feedback at all. This contradicted what they publicly promised, which felt disheartening, especially after investing so much time and effort. Doist positions itself as a values-driven company, but this experience didn’t reflect that. I still admire their mission and the work they do, but I hope they reconsider how they handle candidate communication especially for people who genuinely engage with their process.

Got rejected after first interview. This interview was a screening interview to check whether you fit in the culture, and to get to know you in general. After that interview, the next step would have been a take home exercise composed of a code review, a bug fix, and a new feature on a pre-existing codebase.
