I applied online and scheduled an interview.
My interview was oddly similar to previous reviews. Luckily I read the reviews beforehand so I wasn't too caught off guard.
The interview started with about 4 minutes of awkward silence as my interviewer read over my application materials. The first question I was asked was "Why email marketing?"
I gave my answer and the reply I got was "oh really?". I thought that was kind of a strange response but then he asked the question of "how will this job fit into your life". Meaning how will the part-time hours fit into my life. I gave my answer that I was looking for a part-time position, while still continuing my career in marketing. His response was "I don't know if I believe that"
After attempting to explain how I was looking for a part-time position, and answering question after question of how this role will fit my lifestyle, I was told I am "not their typical applicant." I was told their employees are "stay at home moms with 3 kids running around with only a few hours a day to get work done"
Finally, I was asked, "How will this job support you financially?" After that question was asked I knew the interview was over. It lasted for about 10 minutes.
Overall it was an incredibly uncomfortable interview. I don't understand why they don't do phone screens to avoid wasting everyones time. I understand they are looking for a specific type of person for this position, so having phone screens would probably be beneficial. Everyone's situation is different. Some people are seeking part-time employment for personal reasons. Starting an interview off berating the candidate why they are looking for part-time might not be the best approach.
