I personally didn't get very far, but this is what I learned from the company. I wanted to share so all the designers should be aware. I also want to say that the chat with the vp/head of product was overall positive. However, there are some concerns if you are considering this role. 1. Solo product designer will have to support 3-4 product managers while owning the design system. This seems like a lot of work for the compensation they were offering. 2. They are currently relying on an agency for design, which may suggest that design isn’t a priority and that the company isn’t investing in building an internal design culture. 3. If you advance in the process, there is a take-home design challenge. However, given the absence of an in-house designer, it raises concerns about their ability to accurately assess design quality and craft.
