      Application

I interviewed at Eunomia in Jul 2021

      Interview

Eunomia was relatively positive until the final stage interviewers were particularly unpleasant and chose to continue the interview via Whatsapp video when their own access to MSTeams failed. Their attitude and general behaviour reflected very poorly on the business culture Eunomia presides over. Fortunately, I was accepted by a competitor for a more senior position and have enjoyed great progression since. The interview process itself was relatively straight forward: Three stages. First screening excercise, including typical questions regarding my application, followed by separate quantitative skills test. Second round interview: discussion of knowledge, experience and suitability for the role. Both stages went very well. These team members showed genuine interest in my ability, my professional history and my highly succesful academic career. They also provided highly positive feedback following the call. This made the final stage interview, all the more problematic for the following reasons: i) Eunomia was having issues with MSTeams. Rather than using Google Meets, Zoom or rescheduling, they decided to push ahead with Whatsapp Videocall. I conducted the video on my mobile, creating a weird environment. ii) They were scathing about both my qualitative and mixed methods background and plainly stated "We have plenty of people who can write reports, but we need to crunch numbers. Why did you apply?", and the fact I had undergone a career change and did not follow the traditional geography/engineering BA into sustainability career path. iii) They were scathing about my choice to interview for an analyst consultant role, when I was potentially overqualified (despite going through a career change and not having exp in this field). Honestly a very unusual experience.
