Lengthy process. They gave a project to work on which took few days to complete. Companies having candidates spend days on their project should pay for their time. Job interviews are getting more ridiculous. Coding round is way better than this sort of project.
I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Even Financial (New York, NY) in Jan 2020
Interview
Phone screen, take-home, onsite.
1. The interviewer (team member) got offended when I asked how many women are on the team. His answer was 'There are way fewer women working in tech, and Even is not doing worse than average'
2. My onsite interview was cut off to 1/3. After I presented my take-home, HR came in and told me that Even was not going to move forward and the interview ended. HR said that the team thought there were errors in my result and I didn't revise them. Also, they were not certain whether they should bring me onsite but they did it anyway. There was a serious miscommunication between interviewer and interviewee and obviously they didn't respect interviewees' time and effort investing in the whole process. They didn't bother to communicate with interviewees about their expectations. Honestly, I don't think they even know what kind of people or data scientists they were looking for. It was a horrible experience, and I won't recommend wasting your time with this company.
