      I withdrew after the screening call with an internal recruiter because the vibe was way off. The hiring process she described was “simple 3 steps”* 1. Hiring manager walkthrough of portfolio case study 2. Followup call with hiring manager 3. Meet with cofounder 4. Another 5-6 meetings with the rest of the company (over several days) *So it’s not 3-steps, it’s nine, minimum.

      Question 1

      The only thing she asked, aside from “tell me about yourself” was what I wanted to know about the company. Then seemed irritated by my questions. Salary is okay for this level role in a startup, but low if you’re coming from big tech. There’s no bonus and no stock grants (but they’ll let you invest in the company for a discount, which they’re calling “options"). It wasn’t hard to decide I wasn’t going any further; my decision was less about the compensation and more about the company culture, assuming she embodies it.
