      Content Marketing Manager Interview

      Sep 1, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at FLEXE in Jul 2021

      Interview

This had to be the most disorganized, longest interview process I’ve encountered. The process took over four weeks. The first step was a call with the recruiter. This went fine but they clearly did not understand the role or team. Second step was a video call with the hiring manager. This went pretty well and she was pretty nice the first time around. Told me I would be doing a writing exercise (which I didn’t understand given I have been in content for over 10 years). The third step was the writing exercise. I was given literally two days to write a 1,000-word blog, explain the SEO strategy, and how I would promote it—all while I have a full-time job. I thought it must have been good considering they reached out five hours later to move me forward in the process. The next phase was kind of ridiculous. It consistent of four 45-minute zoom calls with other Marketing team members. The scheduling process took over a week. One of the calls was a second call with the hiring manager. This time she seemed totally zoned out, barely asked any questions, and pet her dog the entire time. It was also clear that she hadn’t even read the blog I had completed for them. I had pretty much determined this wasn’t a match. The recruiter kept trying to schedule a call with me (which I knew would be a rejection) when I told her I wasn’t available. I told her that an email would suffice and that I had other options to consider.
