Interview
I applied online and had two interviews, one with someone from HR and one with the actual investigative/research team. Everyone was very nice and I had what were two great conversations about the job, the work environment, future development for employees, etc. I appreciated the time and effort and did think they sound very interesting. However, I am not sure it was the right fit and felt the pay was on the lower side.
It also took rather long to hear back and it got to the point where I assumed I'd never hear from them (in fairness I chose not to follow-up since I wasn't enthusiastic.) I was not too bummed out by the rejection, although my follow-up has not been answered. So it may be for the best.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Standard questions about my background, experiences, comfort with certain technologies, hypothetical scenarios (how would you answer X question) but nothing outrageous or weird.
This was a bizarre interview. I prepped based on the job description in the ad, and started talking about how I was excited to do [word-for-word description of job duty from ad], only to be told "Um, this job doesn't involve that, you won't be doing anything like that." They also started asking me questions that both had nothing to do with the job description from the ad, and that sounded way beyond the purview of what they were saying the job actually involved - like how to solve high-level cultural issues within the company, while telling me this was a low-level position with minimal interaction with coworkers. (To which the honest answer is 'sounds like nobody in this position could fix that problem!)

Interview
The initial interview process was quick and the first interview was simple and easy, lasting about 15 minutes. At the end I was told that I'd be contacted the following day to schedule a second interview. I wasn't contacted and my follow-up email was ignored, then over one week later I received an automated email saying they selected other candidates. I don't take the rejection personally, but the dishonesty was inconvenient and unprofessional.
