I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Findmypast (London, England)
Interview
- Telephone interview: introduction to the company, cv review, interests and career path.
- Tech test: seems easy, but the idea is to show how you work, small commits, tdd, srp, yagni, don't be afraid to get stuff from the net as long as is covered by tests and you understand what it does. From an implementation point of view, make it work, validate and make it performant.
- Face to face: tech test review, pair programming exercise and meet the team.
Thank you for review and we are really pleased to hear that you had a positive experience interviewing at Findmypast. All the best in your job search.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Findmypast in Oct 2018
Interview
15 minutes phone call
code test (it takes 4-8 hours)
In person interview
I failed this interview at the code test. I have 15 years experience and I generally fail a code test every 20 (I passed code tests from any kind of companies, from Amazon to small startup).
I don't mind failing a code test and I think is a great opportunity to learn, but this company gives you 0 feedback. I don't know why I failed it, I don't know if I actually failed or they just find someone else in the mean time, I don't know what they expected.
This is the worse situation for a candidate, especially after spending a lot of hours on a code test, and I find it quite unprofessional.
