I interviewed for a compliance role and had to go in person to meet with people upstairs at the main office in Hammond. The building is pretty old and is very, very odd, and seems somewhat like a 70s super-villain lair. We spent about an hour having a pleasant conversation and talking about my prior experience and qualifications. People seemed friendly. I felt it was very likely that a job offer would be forthcoming. After a couple of weeks I was told that I was not selected because my salary requirements (which were only the average for the industry and area) were “too high.” They should have got that settled before inviting me for an interview. This just highlights the absurdity of a company choosing to post a position (or worse, interview for it) without explicitly stating what its target pay range will be. Pro-tip: Read the reviews of current employees on Glassdoor before spending time applying here, focusing on reviews that use the word “pay” or “salary.”
