I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Florida Guardian ad Litem Program (Tampa, FL) in Nov 2014
Interview
Honestly, it was too much for my blood but I did it because I NEEDED a job. The first part is going online to PeopleFirst and completing the application. But there's a twist, you don't submit it online, you print it out and fax it to their office. If you submit it online, they won't even glance at it. Then they email you stating they are interested in scheduling a phone interview with you. Once you email your time, they will call you. They = Immediate Supervisor, Assistant Director, & Executive Director. If you pass the phone interview, you will get a call to come in for an interview and presentation. The interview is with the same people you did the phone interview with. The presentation consists of you doing research on the program and creating a 10-minute [MAXIMUM] presentation to their staff trying to "recruit" them to volunteer. It's never wrecking and there have been great candidates who have failed miserably because of the presentation. My presentation was a full house of people. Whoever is in the office is who they ask to join them in the conference room to see your presentation. You're recruiting them. And its tough because you may not know much about the program. Then you leave and they deliberate. They cannot offer you a position until you get your fingerprints done [and its approved] and until they speak to all your references. So I interviewed in mid-November, then told that they were really interested in me mid-December, and started in January. Long process but you'll get through it if everything is good on your end.
