Unprofessional and disrespectful. I was invited for an interview without being informed about a code required to access the building, and there were no signs indicating the office location. When I arrive there were other candidates waiting for what turned out to be a GROUP interview - something I was never informed of. Then the owner arrived late and had us all sit at a table together.
She had us go around the table and say what our experience and then had us all pull out our laptops to show her any work we had done. She scrutinized our work with a dismissive attitude, simply stating 'is that it?' before abruptly ending the interviews with a generic 'thanks for coming, we'll be in touch’(they never followed up).
This entire ordeal was a blatant disrespect of candidates' time and effort. Not only did I have to spend the time to go to the office in person, I also had to pay for parking just to be in a group interview that I did not agree to. If she wanted to see candidates work that is something that could have been asked BEFORE asking candidates to come interview in person.
Companies need to learn to treat candidates with the same respect they expect to receive and the importance of basic professionalism in the hiring process.
