      Legal Administrative Assistant Interview

      Sep 12, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Chicago, IL
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Fragomen (Chicago, IL) in Apr 2015

      Interview

The interview process started via a staffing agency, which interviewed me independently, had me complete competency quizzes in various basic software programs. The interview at Fragomen involved interviewing with three different people, one of whom would be my direct superior. I was asked "How do you feel about a closed-door policy?" by the person I would be working for - indicating that I would not be able to enter the office at any time, and rather I would have to find 'ways to figure out what [they] wanted' without entering the office. Truly a bizarre interview, and I was not surprised when I was told "We haven't gotten anyone to stay in this role for more than two months". There were a lot of warning signs that I would be working under a very difficult individual with no regard for my own growth, stating that moving up in the company would only be possible at a two-year review point. The position also involved a three-month trial period, during which I would be an hourly contract employee.

      Application

      Interview

I met with the Partner and the Paralegal Supervisor for the Team. It was a very pleasant process in a beautiful office. I was seated in a conference room to fill out my application along with a small vocabulary test. When complete I was moved to a larger conference room where I met with the Partner and supervisor. They explained the inner workings of the business of immigration law and gave me an opportunity to ask questions. All in all this took about 20 minutes. I was hired that day and it was amazing.
