      Senior Developer Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Freeletics in May 2019

      Interview

After applying for a role, I've got a response from their technical recruiter (almost at the next day). At this mail, I received the link for a task to create an API service with provided requirements. In 1 week after that, I received another mail from their recruiter, asking me about my progress in solving task, so it looked like they are interested in recruitment process. This technical task was not hard, but it required a plenty of configuration for an application, additionally it was just a lot of trivial code, so I was waiting for any kind of a feedback, since I've spent my time on that. Next day I received a confirmation mail that they received my solution and they will review that as soon as possible. In 2 weeks I wrote a mail that I would appreciate any kind of a feedback. And I had no response on that. 2 more weeks after that I've sent a second mail about my feelings on their recruitment process, and they answered me with a mail, that they are sorry for the delay, and review is still in progress. Right now it is month and a half (and 2 weeks after their last mail), since I've sent my solution for this position in Freeletics, Senior Ruby developer, and I still have no response.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Freeletics in Jan 2019

      Interview

There was a home task sent straight to me in a week right after application to create a mobile app. I completed it successfully and had an interview with a Team Lead for about an hour. It went well, but strange conclusions were made. There was a piece of code I wrote intuitively and failed to explain straight away as I didn't know how exactly it's working, but was doing it whole my life. The team in Freeletics debugged it heavily and found the explanation. I didn't have this time to debug, so I felt it was a bit unfair to make these conclusions. The overall result was positive from both sides and I had a short call with the recruiter a few days later where we agreed for a contact next day. A week later I wrote an email if it's alright and then another week later I wrote again and got a reply that their budget exceeded and they cannot afford an intermediate level. Although, I didn't feel like intermediate as I gave answers to most of questions and wrote a high-quality app in a short time. Overall, I liked the technical interview and the idea behind this company. But communication could be better.
