Overall the interviewers were very nice.
Was given a written test that took about an hour. I do not know why they seated me in the pantry where people are coming in and out where it was moderately noisy as people were taking coffee breaks and having casual chats
Met the associate director where he asked a series of questions on the technologies used for the implementations and projects that I was involved with. He was very quick to dismiss the technology stacks that you used as they were considered outdated and even pointed out the flaws of the architectural designs and heavily criticized why a certain newer technology was not used.
I think the interviewer could have at least allowed me to explain the design decisions thoroughly but no, I was interrupted frequently before I can even finish a complete sentence. The interviewer shows lack of knowledge on a complete SDLC. Of course everyone is interested in working with newer languages and frameworks but would you abandon further maintenance and enhancement on something that has been running stable on production environment for years. If thats the case then banks wouldn’t still have their core backend running in legacy code. Dismisses old and established frameworks that are widely used but has he considered the ease of finding talent for the chosen technology stacks?
In summary, I think the interviewer should show some respect for older languages and frameworks and know that better technologies emerge out of having a full understanding of previous way of doing things. Like wise, the interviewer blindly offers a solution for your previous work without having a clear understanding of what your previous projects entail. My CV stated very clearly what I have used. It feels like they deliberately wasted 3 hours of both of our time only to get a kick out of making fun of your outdated skill set.
