Interview
Got reached out for an interview via email which the man said would take 30-45 minutes. When I got to the site I was greeted by the rudest young lady. I approach the front desk with a smile and say good morning, the young lady says “who are you here to see”. I tell her I am there to interview for the safety manager position and she immediately says “well did you bring all your documents”. I did and then she says “i need your social security to make a copy”.
At this time I am suspicious as to why they’re asking for that. Did I get the job already? I hadn’t even interviewed with anyone yet. She hands me a large packet of forms I had to fill out and says” go upstairs to the right and fill these out”.
I am irritated by this point but i say I am already here let me just knock these out.
Upon seeing the forms, I see a W4 form, a Direct Deposit form amongst other new hire forms, and I am confused as I have yet to meet with anyone to interview.
I go downstairs and ask to speak to the man that emailed me to interview. He comes out with the most un-motivated and bothered posture and facial expression I have ever seen. He says “what’s the problem”. I explain to him that I was there to interview and not expecting to fill out all these forms. I didn’t even know what job entailed. He rudely says “well this is the process we use and everyone has to go through it”. I explain to him in a very respectful manner that I felt uncomfortable with the interview process, and that I would hate to waste their time and most importantly waste mine.
He grabs the packet from my hands and rips it in half right in front of me. I am shocked at this behavior and tell him well you guys took a copy of my social security can you shred that too. The young lady hands the copy to the man and he rips it too.
These are all red flags in my book. I would hate to imagine what goes on behind closed doors.
Overall, I can see this company doesn’t commit to hiring professionals. I will not be disrespected like that, so I left.
