      Interview

Very professional. Very insightful questions. Not too hard though. Sounds like they work on advanced projects. People there looked expert in their field. The tour was very helpful. The location looks good

      Research Engineer Interview

      Apr 7, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Niskayuna, NY
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at GE Research (Niskayuna, NY)

      Interview

4 stages: 1. recruiter on phone call 2. hiring manager interviews for 30 min and generic HR stuff are asked 3. presentation and technical online round- 2 experts evaluate a 40 min ppt & ask you questions regarding your depth 4. 6 hours of ppt, techical interview and non-tech interview rounds. The entire process takes over 3 months.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Process is slow and there is little to almost no communication unless you reach back to them. The so called 'experts' that evaluate you in technical round aren't any experts at all. Unless your work specifically is exact to what they have done, you are out of luck. They barely understand standard terminology that a PhD student (who becomes an expert) in that field should know. It is no wonder GE Research is unprofitable, not innovative, and going on a downward trend as the hiring ppl are mostly mediocre engineers who reinforce mediocrity.
