      Interview

It depends a bit on the specific rules of the year, the school, and the CBSE, but generally speaking, once the deadline (even with late fee) for the compartment / supplementary form is passed, your options become quite limited. Here’s a breakdown of what you can try / expect: --- What typically happens / rules CBSE normally allows students who failed one or more subjects (“compartment” or “supplementary” status) to fill a special form (List of Candidates, etc.) within a specific window after results are declared. There is often a small extension (with late fee) allowed beyond the original deadline. But after that extension, no further forms are accepted. Once that extended deadline passes, CBSE generally does not permit registration for that year’s supplementary / compartment exam. Some Q&A sources say: “No, one should apply for the CBSE supplementary exams before the last date … now that you have missed applying, you can sit only next year.” The CBSE FAQ says: a student who fails can reappear “as a private candidate or as regular student” in a future exam. --- What your options might be now Given the usual policy, here are possible paths you can explore. Which ones work for you depend on your school, CBSE regional office, and whether there's any special mercy or appeal process this year. Option What to try / investigate Pros / cons / feasibility Appeal to your school / principal / CBSE regional office Explain your situation (e.g. medical emergency, travel, etc.) and request special permission to submit the form late This is usually a long shot, but sometimes boards make exceptions in genuine hardship cases. There is no guarantee. Apply as a private candidate (next exam cycle) If current year’s registration is closed, wait for the next board / private candidate registration window and appear as a private candidate for the subject(s) you failed This is often the realistic fallback. You’ll prepare and appear in the next exam window. Repeat the entire class / re-register for all subjects If you cannot get permission or appear only in the subject(s) you failed, you might have to re-do the full exam in the next academic year More work, but ensures you don’t lose time entirely Wait for any late / special window announcement Occasionally, boards may open a very short window (with higher late fee) if there is strong push or demand Monitor CBSE notices and from your school closely --- What you should immediately do 1. Talk to your school / board liaison — Your school’s exam / administrative office is your first contact. They know local rules and can tell you if an appeal or special permission is possible. 2. Check official CBSE notifications / your regional CBSE office website — Sometimes CBSE publishes notices about late windows, or special allowances. 3. Prepare for next exam window — Even while you try the appeal, prepare so you can take the exam in the next available cycle (either as a private candidate or under the regular system). --- If you like, I can try to check whether in your particular CBSE region / state (Rajasthan or your CBSE region) there is any precedent or special clause you can lean on. Would you like me to check that for you?
