The hiring manager was 25 minutes late to the interview to begin with. He first asked me about which programming languages I know, after that he said "I'm, surprised, they contacted you since you have no experience" a but rude but fair enough except the craigslist as did say they were looking for an intern. The salary they were offered on the ad is 22k-26k a year, so minimum wage to a little more than minimum, pretty low for an experience programmer. And the reason I applied was not for the money but because it seemed like a good opportunity to gain profession programming experience and grow with the company. Anyway, he then proceeded to ask me how much I make at my current job, which is illegal to ask in California, he did not seem to like that I pointed this out. He tried to rephrase by saying "if you don't mind I asking because maybe you can do SEO or write content." this is still no reason for him to need my salary history, and I was a bit baffled that he would try to use offering me another position as a valid excuse to get my salary history, at this point I wasn't sure how to respond as him, not sure what to protocol is when an employer tries to continue asking a illegal question. The interview ended with him saying "Um Ummm [mocking me] you seem uncomfortable, maybe you should look else where goodluck".
