I submitted my resume online, and was scheduled to come in for an interview. I arrived 5 minutes early to the floor, but the company was in a coworking space with other small startups with two entrances and no reception area, so I was really confused on where to go. I called the interviewer about this, and she actually sounded annoyed that I called her even though it was only a few minutes before our meeting. After instructing me on where to wait, she came out to get me after about 10 minutes. Once we got to the room and sat down, she asked me in an almost exasperated tone: "okay, so how do you want to do this?" to which I was completely confused. She found her footing after a couple minutes, asking me questions about myself and telling me about the company, but I noticed she kept checking her watch every other minute as I was answering; not fully engaged in the conversation at all. To make matters worse, she was reviewing my experience on my resume and audibly scoffed at the fact that I worked retail for a brief time after college, saying something snarky along the lines of "I don't think working as a cashier is a good goal to have or is going to get you anywhere" after having disclosed that she used to work for Taco Bell and Walmart. She continued on the interview with a couple questions and comments that came across as tone deaf, which was surprising for a company with such a diverse staff. After the interview was over, I was walked to the elevator, never to be contacted again.
