I choose to withdraw from the process after an interview that felt disorganised and performative. The talent team dominated the flow, frequently interrupting and repeatedly asking me to restate answers instead of probing constructively, while the hiring lead appeared sidelined and deferential to them. This created a poor signal about decision making and team dynamics, hinting at a culture where those closest to the role have limited influence in hiring decisions and where hierarchy outweighs collaboration.
Advice to management: empower hiring leads to take ownership of interviews and train the talent team to facilitate, not control. Repeatedly having a non technical panelist steer the discussion in an irrelevant direction and having candidates repeat answers wastes time and risks losing strong candidates who value open, balanced communication and expect to engage directly with the decision maker.
