Communicated with the hiring manager to set up a phone interview. Phone interview was about 45 minutes. At the end of the interview the hiring manager stated that they would reach out to me the following week with "next steps." As a good candidate I sent a thank you email for their time and the opportunity to interview with them. I then received a response stating that they would follow up with me the following week (as was promised during the phone interview.) I never received any follow-up and/or word from the hiring manager again. In the future - I would recommend not promising a candidate that you will follow-up with them if you intend to not follow-up with them. Even an email stating "we thank you for your time interviewing with us, but we are passing" would have been professionally courteous
