The position was for Financial Wellness Group which Gregory Pennington is now a part of.
I had a initial 1 h video interview with a techlead and a front end lead, which was pretty ok, just general questions about the tech I had worked with until then, what kind of projects I've worked on with React etc.
Second stage was about 3 hours..with the same devs and a very skeptical dev manager. A 1h live coding task, where they would watch my screen while I would try and do the React task. The task itself was pretty simple, but the browser editor they told me to use didn't have any syntax highlighting and was very bare-bones, which makde things more difficult.
After finishing the task, they started asking me questions about React and my career, until at one point the dev manager questioned if I had experience in all the technologies I listed on my CV(He probably did not even see it until that point). He was very skeptical and generally had a very unpleasent attitude towards me.
Overall I am happy I was not presented with an offer, as it would not have been a good fit for me, and the commute to Trafford would have made things more difficult.
