      Bus Driver Interview

      Jul 19, 2014
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at HEB ISD in Jul 2014

      Interview

I applied for the bus monitor job and interviewed a year ago, but received a letter saying they had hired someone else. (This is for a job posting that remains open year round.) I applied again this year, but when the secretary called she asked if I'd be interested in being a driver. I was hesitant but scheduled the interview anyway. I have a college degree and I'm an excellent driver, so I thought maybe this is something I can learn. I filled out a form when I got there and then waited a while even though I didn't see any other applicants being interviewed. Just as before, two people interviewed me in a private office. The first question is "Why do you want to work with kids?" After that, you're grilled like it's a corporate job instead of a bus driver. What would former supervisors say about you? In what areas would co-workers say you need to improve? How do you handle conflict with other co-workers? I was even asked, "How would you structure the bus?" The bottom line is, unless you have experience working with kids, don't bother. That's all they're trying to find out. And when you ask questions and they act like you're wasting their time, rest assured they've already made up their mind. I wish I had gotten up and walked out.
