Several months ago, I applied for a CD role through a recruitment agency that finally materialised into an interview after two months of silence. During the 2-hour 1st stage telephone call with the ECD, he mentioned contacting me the following week to set up a second interview. Over one month later, they are still interviewing for the role and recently reposted it through a different recruiter. My issue isn’t with the company reposting the role or even taking their time to respond. My concern is that I only recently received confirmation from the ECD that they still want to arrange a second interview though they need to speak to more candidates and will be in touch?? Why mention a second interview for a week later over a month ago?? What’s more alarming is that the recruitment agency recently called me to say HRG no longer wished to progress my application, despite the contradictory email I received directly from the ECD a few days before. I did contact the ECD asking for an update, though all has gone quiet! Again, I don’t have an issue with the company changing their mind or even if they have someone more suitable to fill the role. What is disconcerting is that I have been thoroughly misled, strung along, and disrespected throughout the process. It’s not much to ask… Treat people as you would like to be treated.
