Applied online and a recruiter reached out to set up initial 30 minute screening. The entire 30 minutes were spent with the recruiter talking about their background and career. I was sent a questionnaire after asking me to complete via email. All the questions were standard, but should have been covered during the phone call.

Negative experience

Application
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Handshake (Denver, CO) in Aug 2021
Interview
I was reached out to after applying to set an initial intro call with the recruiter. The recruiter was 10 minutes late to our 30 minute call and had no reason as to why, other than, her being over extended and not organizing her time effectively. After about 20 minutes of a phone call, she suggested I move to another area within the business, Account Management. I was willing to explore the opportunity and so, her ending to our call was she was going to link me in an email with the Account manager recruiter. She was VERY confident in setting the meeting and was fluffing up how she thought, with my experience, that i'd be a great fit. I then get an email shortly after my phone call saying "after careful consideration, we will not be moving forward with your application". No explanation, no update from the recruiter, just simply trashed the application and sent her email template after telling me she will be following up with an introduction??? ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE experience and completely unprofessional recruitment process. I'd look elsewhere for a career.

Question 1
Very surface level questions like, "tell me about your work history?"
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Handshake (San Francisco, CA) in Jul 2024
Interview
A recruiter messaged me on LinkedIn. The entire process was 5 calls over 4 weeks. 1 recruiter screen, 3 calls with hiring managers and the vp of sales, and a mock discovery call. After completing all five calls, I received a call from HR saying I “passed the hiring screen”, but the head of operations, who I didn’t meet with, rejected me based on my profile. So I wasted all that time for no reason, why are they reaching out to profiles they don’t want?
The feedback they gave was they were hoping to get someone with mid-market experience for this smb role, but the pay was low even for smb. Good luck handshake, you’ll continue to get destroyed by LinkedIn.
