I applied via email and a few days later I got a call from a store manager who jumped straight into asking questions like why are you leaving your current job, what is your current salary, how many hours do you work. Not unusual questions, but felt a lot more like market research than an initial interview.
A few days later I had an interview over Zoom with an HR rep. This interview lasted for almost TWO HOURS and it was basically a mix of interrogation style and market research. They were more interested in the companies I worked for than they were about my qualifications. They asked about commission structures, salary structures, leadership rankings…all very unusual and uncomfortable. By the end I felt like I had participated in a survey rather than a job interview. After all of this, they never called back. Overall an extremely uncomfortable and unusual experience.
