I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Holiferm (Manchester, England) in May 2022
Interview
The process consisted of three stages: 1) A technical written assessment 2) An interview with a mix of competency and technical questions 3) on-site visit & technical lab assessment (followed by a second 'unofficial' interview with the CEO). The technical questions were a bit challenging and required good knowledge of bio processes. Overall the process was quite rigorous as you'd expect from a small company that cannot afford to make hiring mistakes. Having a 3-stage process means it takes longer than usual and the company can be slow with updates so be prepared for that.

Question 1
Technical: you're given a mix of components and asked about what methods would you use to separate them and in what order. Competency: what qualities do you look for in your manager, how do you work in team? Lab assessment: adjust pH and separate a mixture using a funnel.

Interview
The technical test was quite hard and tight on time. The first interview is competency based and was quite straight forward. The second interview was technical based and rather specific to their process and delved quite deeply into automation. The process was quite lengthy as interviews were 2 weeks apart from each other.
