      Graduate Data Engineer Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Hometrack (London, England) in Feb 2026

      Interview

The people I interviewed with were genuinely lovely, warm, engaging, and clearly passionate about what they do. Every individual I met came across as professional and personable, and the actual interview conversations themselves were enjoyable. On that front, I truly have nothing but positive things to say. That's what makes the rest of this so disappointing to write. Four rounds of interviews is already a significant commitment of time and energy from a candidate, and unfortunately the process was consistently let down by poor organisation and a lack of communication. At multiple points I found myself having to chase just to get any kind of update, and there were unexplained gaps that left me feeling like an afterthought rather than a serious candidate. It is a genuine shame, because the people I met suggested a team and culture worth being part of. But the recruitment process is often a candidate's first real impression of a company, and this one didn't do them justice. I'd encourage them to reflect on that, as they clearly have a lot of great people worth showcasing.
