The Positives:
The questions themselves were not overly technical or difficult. They focused on standard behavioral topics.
The interview started on time and was organized.
The Negatives:
Interrogation-Style Atmosphere: The interviewers employed rapid-fire questioning and there was a noticeable lack of positive engagement or rapport-building. Cross-examination vs conversation.
Critical Lack of Detail and Transparency: interviewers' failed to provide essential information about the role including:
- Adequately explaining the day-to-day responsibilities of the position.
- Clarifying the strategic priority of this role within the team and the broader organization.
- Clearly explaining their own roles and how I would be interacting with them.
The entire session was focused on extracting information from me, with no interest in selling me on the company or the position. This made it feel like a one-way street and demonstrated a lack of respect for my need to make an informed decision.
