      Thermal Engineer Interview

      Aug 18, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      West Chester, OH
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at Hyliion (West Chester, OH) in Mar 2023

      Interview

Terrible interview process. I had three stages of interviews; initial virtual screening with recording my answers to some questions from the hiring team, virtual interview with the hiring team, onsite interview. The process took months. There was close to two months from the screening to the first interview with the hiring team. The virtual interview was fine with some relevant questions related to the job and my background and it went smoothly. The onsite interview was scheduled relatively fast. I was over 1.5 hours away from the company's location (one-way) and there was no mention of reimbursement for the travel. On the onsite interview day, the point of contact for me was not even working so it took a long time for me to be let in the building just because there was no one I could contact that day. Upon going to the building, I realized that the person I had the interview with was even working from home that day so I ended up travelling for 1.5 hours to have a virtual interview onsite!!! The interview was supposed to be an hour only as I specifically asked to make the preparation but it took 2:45 hours, until close to 7pm!! The overall onsite interview was unorganized and a lot of red flags, in my opinion. At the end, they didn't even bother sending an email after the onsite interview and ghosted me. I would not recommend interviewing this company!

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Virtual interview: Questions about my background and questions specific to the job description. Onsite interview: Vague design questions asking me to fill the gaps with assumptions but every time saying that in their situation, they could not make those assumption.
