      Project Manager Interview

      May 31, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 2 days. I interviewed at IAM RoadSmart in May 2022

      Interview

nterviewed first with the hiring manager which was a project manager in this position advertised now. It was a video call which went okay. It was more of a conversation than a interview which i prefer as I am not a fan of script talking. The hiring manager understood my skills and experience prior to our conversation and she understood that i would need developing into this role. Based on this, i still went through to the 2nd stage which i met with the 2 other people and had a site visit (normally this would occur after you been given an offer, but HR said it is to get a ‘feel’ of the place), upon speaking with the One of the interviewers, it was clear he had not read my CV prior to our interview and felt he needed a more experienced PM in the role (which was contradictory to what the hiring manager said to me at the 1st stage) this shows me these depts do not communicate well on what is needed for the role and i felt like i had wasted my time driving to site. I spoke to the recruiter the next day and advised him that the interview was awkward because the Interviewer did not even know the role and responsibilities of a PM and how my role closely resembles that. It was highlighted to me after that the Interviewer did not have direct Project manager experience which made sense to why he did not understand basic pmo principals lol , after the interview i did have a good laugh at it all because of the sheer lack knowledge he had on a area he was trying to recruit for, i think he should of left that up to people who actually worked in that role. Straight after the interview i told the recruiter to get me out of the interview process as i did not want to work that Interviewer and had better opportunities in the pipeline but the recruiter wanted to still play up like i was still interested just to see what they said but i already knew i just didn’t care for that company after that. Question to the interviewer, if a PMO analyst job entails checking that projects docs such as project plans are completed correctly by the PM, then surely the PMO must know how to create a project plan by themselves ? Think about that
