I was asked about my experience. I brought samples but the manager/team leader was not interested in looking at them. When one refuses to look at your work, it seems that they already made a decision about you that has nothing to do with your work, or it simply all boils down to whether or not you fit into their culture, which I didn't because they were barely out of their teens, and I am middle aged. She asked my salary expectations in front of other writers, which was unprofessional and immature. Basically, she just seemed young and inexperienced (I believe she was around 24). I have lots of experience and gave a modest number as I wanted to work locally. The two writers were nice. My modest salary request was met with a long, dead silence and the interview was awkward from there on out. I am sure that the living wage I asked for was ten thousand over what they were paying most of the interviewing panel (based on stats here). Their workers all seemed really young. One was fresh out of school. None of them other than the two managers/owners looked much over 25.
As an ad agency, this company seems inexperienced and the work I saw was amateurish and unprofessional. At the time of my interview, their main page said , "We kick ....." Clever. I see they change their page and look frequently, which suggests they know very little about branding.
I had considerably more years of experience than any of them (and am much older), and I didn't get the job. This seems like a good place to work if you're 22 and need some experience to quickly move on from. I couldn't live off of 30 thousand a year. I wish I had an opportunity to interview with the old dudes who own the business as I suspect they are turning away a lot of mature talent (I base this on Linkedin profiles). But then again, based on a review here, I had them pegged correctly and it wouldn't have been a positive experience. Small towns. Small time. Low expectations.
Incidentally, I wonder how many people confuse this business with that similarly-named, ultra-successful social media agency.
