Applied for Data Engineer job and got an invite for an interview with a Lead ML Engineer and a Data Engineer. Interview was good with a few minor answer errors like, instead of dense_Rank () (SQL windows function) I answered rank() and instead of mentioning all types of Azure Integration Runtime machine types, I was able to answer two, Self-hosted and auto-resolve (forgot Azure SSIS). Panel was impressed (I think) and they recommended my application for another interview which was for a Senior Data Engineer role, which I said yes to. I was told that my application is valid for both DE and Senior DE, which is why I said yes. Senior DE involved more to do with business value, business requirements, dealing with difficult stakeholders, projects I was proud of, etc. Interview was not that great and got rejected. Got reject for DE as well. For DE they said my technical skills were not great and provided the two examples from above (which is contradictory to what I was told by the HR when recommending my application for senior position). The HR did mention that my technical skills were strong and this being the reason for senior position recommendation.
