I applied online via the JLR website, the deadline being around mid-December 2011. Around the end of December, I was informed via email that I had successfully passed the first stage and had to do some online tests (numerical, verbal and diagrammatic reasoning). Due to the high volume of applicants, the reply on whether I was successful and should attend an assessment centre took approximately 1 month.
The assessment centre consisted of reasoning tests (noticeably more difficult than the online ones I had taken earlier due to the limited time they had to be completed in), a group exercise where we were basically given a situation, were presented with 5 different suppliers for a specific part of a new car and had to reach a conclusion as to which we would prefer), a 1:1 interview with the usual interview questions, a presentation where we had 10 minutes to prepare our presentation (about our dissertation or any other project of ours we wanted to present) and 10 minutes to present, followed by questions and finally a role playing situation, the scenario being that I was the assistant for the chief engineer responsible for a part of the new car being designed, the chief engineer was away, a problem had come up and I had to talk with some other engineer in order to find a solution as to what we should change in the original design in order to account for the new situation we were dealing with.
I was notified for the outcome within a week from the interview, followed by a detailed feedback discussion over the phone.
