      Insight Manager Interview

      Sep 11, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Coventry, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at JLR (Coventry, England) in Aug 2023

      Interview

The interview process consisted of four stages, each of which I approached with great enthusiasm and dedication: 1. Telephone Screening Call with HR (30 minutes): This initial conversation went smoothly, providing some informations about the subsequent stages. 2. Introductory Video Call with the Hiring Manager (20 minutes): This meeting, focused on a casual discussion about the role and my experience, allowed for a comfortable exchange of information. 3. Face-to-Face Interview in Coventry (1.5 hours): This in-person session included a presentation, which I diligently prepared for in advance, along with behavioral questions of moderate complexity. 4. Video Call with a Wider Team (30 minutes): This final stage, involving technical questions centered around data interpretation, was notably challenging. It was evident that this segment was designed to assess one's response under pressure. In total, this process spanned five weeks, during which I remained committed to presenting myself in the best possible light. Despite the knowledge that JLR had a pool of candidates with similar experience, I was assured of receiving comprehensive feedback for every stage, regardless of the outcome. Regrettably, this assurance was not upheld. Moreover, I must address the issue of communication. Throughout the process, there were repeated delays in responses from both HR and the hiring manager, often surpassing the promised deadlines. While I understand that the demands of the job can be overwhelming, it is disheartening to experience this as a candidate. However, the most disconcerting aspect of this process was a call from HR inquiring if I would be willing to adjust my salary expectations. I was puzzled by this request, as the salary had been clearly stated in the job advertisement, aligning with my initial expectations. When I sought clarification regarding the reason for this inquiry, I was met with a response that lacked both logic and transparency, merely mentioning a scoring system. This left me in a perplexing position, and though I reluctantly expressed a slight flexibility, my preference for the originally advertised figure was clear. Following this conversation, I was provided with no further information about the next steps or a timeline. Despite my follow-up after a week, there was no response. This lack of communication is, in my opinion, unprofessional and reflects poorly on the organization. Ultimately, I just assumed I didn't get the job and I am relieved not to have been offered the position. It is disheartening to imagine commencing employment with a company that seeks to negotiate salary terms before the commencement of work and that treats candidates with no respect. This approach struck me as both unconventional and disconcerting, and it was compounded by the absence of the promised feedback or even a simple acknowledgment. Given my experience, I have decided not to pursue further opportunities with JLR. I trust this feedback will be taken constructively and contribute to enhancing the candidate experience in the future.
