I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at JPMorganChase (Denton, TX) in May 2010
Interview
I applied online, and received a call from a recruiter within a few days. She asked a few questions about availability and set up an interview for the following week. The interview consisted of 3 parts. The first part was with 2 local branch managers. They were mostly interested my experience and what kind of commission structures I'd worked under in the past. They talked a little bit about the sales culture at Chase as well as their expectations. They made the interview very comfortable. For the second part, we walked out into the lobby. I greeted a few customers and had them sit with personal bankers.
The third part was another face-to-face session, this time with the district manager and a branch manager from another district. The district manager was a little rude and very unprofessional. The visiting branch manager just took notes while the DM asked the questions. She asked me who the top shareholder for my current employer was, and I told her I didn't know. Because of that she said I had a lot to learn about banking and was obviously very inexperienced. The district manager was so sharp about putting me in my place that the branch manager in the room with us got visibly uncomfortable. At the end of the interview they asked if I had any questions. I asked them what they liked about Chase and what was keeping them with the company. The district manager started to stammer and blurted out "Well, I just love my job." Then she made a bad joke about "the chain around my leg". The branch manager had a much better answer- she said she enjoyed the benefits, and how well they treated women in the workplace. I thanked them for their time and made a quick exit. When I got a call for a follow-up interview I told the recruiter that I wasn't interested in the position anymore.
