      Software Developer Interview

      Mar 22, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Tralee
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at JRI America (Tralee) in Mar 2022

      Interview

A video call with 2 seniors members of the team. The red flags started right as the call start, when a Hello was ignored and 2 members of JRI started talking to each other for 2 minutes. After this was a very formal set of questions about my experience, which was set to the back drop of the 2 members of staff looking bored. Which is telling about the company, such a shame when they send inexperienced people into the 1st stage interview. It doesn't matter what the benefits or salary can be, it sets a red flag and lets alarm bells ring out. After 50 minutes of these formal questions, I asked for a pause to ask some questions of my own. Which seemed to shock the main interviewer who wanted to continue with the battery of questions. I explained I had 3 questions which while short would help me get a better grounding in the company to see if the company is suited to me. And save us all any more time on this interview process. My main question was about the Remote Working policy which was answered in a series of 'hmms' and that's not our department. I asked if any staff is currently in the position I am in, and what's the policy for them. To which I was answered by: 'That's a valued employee' All in all, quite a poor interview experience. When I said this isn't the position for me and good luck in finding the correct candidate. I was met with shock as I was turning down such a position and to instead keep going with the rest of the questions and to see if I'd qualify for a stage 2 interview.
