Went to an interview for a position that was opening up and needing someone immediately. I was told during the initial interiew that the company was looking to hire someone to replace an employee who was not being "a team player". I also had an interview with the company to go over more details about the position and so we could meet each other. During this interview, the hiring manager told me they we looking to hire someone to replace an employee who was very sick with a terminal illness and who was missing too many days at work due to their illness. She also said that the employee possible could return later but would only be on a part time basis and would not effect my employment. All in all this interview seemed to go well. She had said that she would want me to start immediately too. It seemed odd that I was told conflicting stories and had brought it up with the owner who had interviewed me the first time. He replied that he must have gotten confused and read the wrong file. A few days later a friend of mine was also called in for a interview and was told the same story that the employee was not a team player hence the need for a new employee. The next day she was told that the position was filled. She had thought that I had been offered the job, so I contacted the owner to check the status of the position and was told that he had not heard back from the manager yet and would inform me when he did. After waiting a few more days, he contacted me saying the position was cancelled due to the old employee staying and miraculously recovered from their illness. I felt that I was lied to and mislead through the whole interviewing process. I feel that he was so quick to get my friend and I in the door to fill out the lengthly paper work and promise us the world and how great this position will be and how pleased I will be with it and it ends up getting "cancelled". Its as if he wants to build his clientele so he can say to companies that he has a large list of candidates but its at our expense.
