      Technician Interview

      Mar 18, 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Candler, NC
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Jacob Holm (Candler, NC) in Aug 2014

      Interview

Jacob Holm failed to mention several important things during the interview. The paper schedule portrays a workshift of 12 hours but in actual practice this is 14 to 16 hours. It is very often required to work many of your days off, whether you want to or not. Usually your extra workshifts will be the nights instead of the days. It is common to be required to work 4 nights in a row, then a dayshift without any day off in between to adjust your sleep schedule. Depending on the mood of the manager, you may only get straight time for working days off instead of the overtime that you should get. There is no concern for the disruption caused to employees by last minute work schedule changes. They also don’t tell the candidate that he or she is expected to work all holidays including Christmas, unless they are in management. It is often required to work through lunch break. There is no warning about the hazardous design of the facility which results in excessive injuries. Enduring workplace bullying is a normal part of employee expectations. The biggest surprise comes after the recruit has quit his old job and it is too late to go back. Then the new employee is forced to sign a statement which allows Jacob Holm to confiscate an unlimited amount of money from the employees personal checking account. During the interview, everyone representing the company is extremely nice to the recruit. The exact reverse happens after the recruit signs on.
