The interview process was highly insightful and engaging. The role was exceptionally appealing, and I am confident that I would have enthusiastically accepted it based on the interview. Unfortunately, after I was offered the role, it became apparent that the hours and salary did not align with the advertised figures. The role was advertised as 37.5 hours hybrid working for £40k, but once I was offered the role, I was made aware that I would need to work 40 hours a week to receive the top-end salary. Additionally, during the interview, I was told I would be expected to work more days in the office than originally advertised. I felt misled, and then the HR department became pushy, urging me to accept the role at 40 hours a week. I seriously considered the role, but as I have a young family, it would not have provided the work-life balance I need. Moreover, I no longer trusted the company after feeling misled and pressured into accepting terms I was not happy with. Subsequently, my current fully remote 37.5-hour-per-week role in a team I love presented me with a counter-offer I couldn't refuse.
