      Software Developer Interview

      Mar 4, 2014
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Jibe (New York, NY) in Dec 2013

      Interview

Was contacted after meeting with employees at a career fair. Transportation was paid for and everyone seemed amiable. Went into the interview and was not impressed, I arrived on time and no one greeted me/employees told me to wait in a room for awhile. The "interview" process consisted of random employees who were not informed of my visit, walking in, chatting me up about startup tropes, i.e. video games, innovation&disruption, blogs, self-coddling and aggrandizement, etc. There was a mini technical interview. I was then told I could leave with no contact information or time to response, negative or otherwise. Afterwards, of course, I received no email replies to my followups or thank yous. All in all, this was the weirdest interview experience I've ever been on. You are essentially treated like a king during the automated recruitment phase, babysat by clueless employees during the interview phase, and completely ignored in the aftermath. My experience was corroborated by one of my colleagues. We were both impressed by the money they were willing to drop on us for an interview, but had extremely strange interview experiences. I still can't tell if this company was just shotgunning invites to meet a quota, doing some weird research, or if they are just that unprofessional. However, I guess it is fitting for a company paired with Walmart inventing software to exploit new hires to stay true to character. In short, don't get pulled in by their lavish recruitment strategy. You can probably expect them to use and abuse you once you're hired if the interview process is any indicator of the professionalism and integrity of the company.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Literally, just read O'Reilly javascript The Good Parts and you will ace all front end questions. They thought they were clever asking verbatim questions out of this book.

Very Friendly. Consisted of three interviews. Two over conference call with 2-3 members of the team and one in person interview that had a white board question. Make sure to review Cracking the Coding Interview and know your projects inside and out.
