I applied for a product marketing role through a referral. The initial screening interview was conducted by the hiring manager and director of demand generation, who focused extensively on my demand generation experience rather than the posted product marketing responsibilities.
At the end of the interview, I learned it was the director's last day with the company. After several follow-ups with the hiring manager, and recruiter, and bugging my internal contact, I never received a response, it's been over 2 months since the screening call. While I understand hiring decisions can take time, I would have appreciated more communication on the status and final decision. Overall, the experience was not as streamlined as I had hoped, though I cannot speak to the company's typical hiring practices based on this single interaction.
