One of the most baffling and ridiculous interviews of my life.
The interview in total was nearly 2.5 hours long which is very long for any interview, let alone for an entry level position (as was advertised). I was also asked what appeared to be the same question worded different ways multiple times (e.g. Why are you a good fit for this role, what strengths do you have that make you suited to this role, why would you be good in this role etc).
As I do not currently live in Solihull, I was asked multiple times, both during the initial telephone screening and the in-person interview, whether I would be willing to relocate. Each time, I confirmed that I would and explained that I have relocated previously. Despite this, the question was revisited repeatedly, which gave the impression that my response was not being taken at face value. I was also asked what my parents thought about me potentially moving, which felt irrelevant given that I am a fully grown adult who has lived away from home before.
The end of the interview also included a surprise Maths and English test which was very strange, particularly as the role itself does not involve any maths. I have a good GCSE in maths listed on my CV, along with a completed degree, so it was unclear why this additional assessment was necessary.
I was also asked many personal questions (e.g. what my parents do for a living, questions about my current employer and what I think of them etc), which felt like they were prying for something and assessing my answers based on my personal background.
Prior to the interview, I was asked to complete 2 tasks. In the interview, I was asked if I had used AI (I hadn't), then revealed to me that my task came back as being heavily AI generated. Not only was this offensive, but it was completely untrue, and it felt like I was being accused of cheating.
To top everything off, after the interview, I didn't hear anything back for nearly 3 weeks. It was only days after I sent a follow up message that they responded telling me they wouldn't be taking my application further.
