Right up front, do not bother applying to this company if you are African American. I knew I didn't have a shot as soon as I walked off the elevator and the woman interviewing me looked bothered. I was even more confident that I didn't have a shot when the interview actually started and she barely asked me any of the question on her paper and didn't look at my resume and barely made eye contact with me. I was coming from over 15 years of experience with employee benefits and may have even been overqualified for the job I was applying for. But I didn't expect to be treated like dirt. It would be more beneficial if they were upfront in the phone interview process that they don't hire African Americans than to make me come down there and treat me so poorly after they saw the color of my skin.
