I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Kolibri Games (Berlin) in Dec 2020
Interview
Kolibri offered a very in depth interview that concluded with 2 (virtual) trial days. Overall, there were 5 steps. All of the steps were online (audio, video calls) because of Covid-19. The steps were:
1. Audio Interview with the recruiter (general overview of skills and experience)
2. Online test (2 hours long, 4 questions, ranging from optimizing a class, UML diagrams and more general "describe" questions)
3. Video Interview with a senior developer, about general experience, discussing the online test answers and a few more technical questions.
4. Video Interview with the Head of Client Engineering, similar to step 3.
5. 2 virtual trial days. These involved working on a simple project and being asked to implement a feature. Also involved meeting various members of the team via zoom calls (because Covid), just to talk casually, not strictly relating to work. At the end of each day, your solution is reviewed by various members (around 4 people) of the team, feedback is given, The next day is the same, with a different task. Also involved a short chat with the Co-Founder.
Overall the interview process with Kolibri was long but each person was extremely welcoming. The audio/video calls all felt like a casual chat and made me feel very comfortable. There was plenty of back and forth about random subjects rather than just focusing on Unity questions + answers.
The trial days are a fantastic idea. The tasks set were all achieveable and the slimmed down project you are given wasn't overwhelming. Not only this, but you get ample opportunity to meet various team members and chat about anything that you're interested in. The feedback session at the end of the day was very informative. The trial days are more about seeing if the company is a good fit for you rather than testing technical/design/problem solving skills.
This is such an amazing piece of text - we are so grateful for spreading the word about the value our hiring process had for you. We are happy and lucky to have you as part of the Kolicrew!
