I walked into district office with my permit and SDCOE paperwork, and applied in person. One week later I got a call to come in for new hire orientation.
No interview. Just complete the CBEST and live scan requirements. Job can be inconsistent, but is relatively easy going and engaging. This is a great opportunity for meeting educators in the field and getting to know whether education is the right career move.
