      Product Manager Interview

      Feb 26, 2025
      Anonymous employee
      Los Angeles, CA
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Lender Home Page (Los Angeles, CA) in Mar 2024

      Interview

It started with a quick intro to the CEO which seemed to go well, then a few more interviews with other stake holders to "make sure" then yet another interview with the CEO. He then said he would like me to start Monday (this was Thursday) at which time I asked "when would I get an offer letter?" The HR rep contacted me the next day with one of the lightest offer letters I've ever seen. Not a lot of information at all, especially since this was a remote position I had questions and they assured me throughout the interview process they were looking for someone to bring process and ask questions. Well I sent over what was confirmed by many in HR and other hiring positions to be very valid questions (i.e. will i be provided a device, how will i get in contact on day one, who is my superior, if i have any requests or needs working from home who should i contact, etc). They then told me to hold off signing the letter until Monday when I would be contacted by the CEO. Thursday came around and finally the HR rep whom I have been talking to every day asking if there was anything I could do said he would now be the one to chat with me. I was told that "this is a startup company" and they felt my questions made me "unserious" about the role and they decided to rescind my offer. Two things: 1. This is a company that is OVER 20 years old, stop calling yourself a start up as if that gives you the right to not have your stuff together. 2. I then got put onto a marketing mailing list from this company in which I did not sign up for. When all is said and done they derailed me from taking another job offer that was legitimate because they waffled so long with my offer, but I probably dodged a huge bullet. Crazy this all came from a referral.
