Hello and thank you for writing.
As hard as it was to read, I’m grateful you shared your opinion of our application. I’d like to learn more about what left you with the impression you have. Please reach out if you choose to add more detail so we can improve.
For now, I can share some context and rationale behind our approach.
Copywriting is revered at Life is Good and we don’t often have those jobs open. When we do, we are flooded with applications and grateful so many of you want to join the team.
We intentionally avoid the easy option of immediate disqualification based on AI, keywords, and other filtering options companies use. It seems unfair to make decisions about people based on just a resume.
Our brand is about optimism, human connection, and self-expression. We strive to reflect what we believe in our practices. The questions we ask invite good people to share what they feel is most important for us to know. For copywriters, it's especially important. Grammar, spelling, word choice, and communication are the whole job.
I am the human who reads every application and reviews portfolios. It takes time to give each person the attention they deserve. It’s a commitment that is not hard to uphold. The only hard part is choosing just one person from the hundreds who apply and letting all the others know they can continue their search. What we hear from our candidates is it’s rare to get any response at all.
That doesn't feel right.
We will take your feedback to heart and continue doing our best to stand out in a good way. I hope you find the perfect role for you.
