I applied through a recruiter. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Lutron Electronics (Coopersburg, PA) in Mar 2014
Interview
Process from application to offer took about 7 weeks.
Began by applying through University career services and emailing recruiter directly.
Emailed recruiter again after not hearing for about a week. Recruiter responded shortly after to schedule initial phone interview. First phone interview consisted of typical HR behavioral questions. Was told that I received the phone interview because of my second email.
My first tip for applying to Lutron is to not be bashful. This is a company looking for type-A people who will take career development into their own hands.
After the initial phone interview, I was given opportunity to conduct a phone interview with the hiring manager. Again more behavioral HR questions.
After the second round phone interview, I was asked to take a personality assessment online. After completion of the personality profile, I was invited for an on-site interview. This is typically a 7-8 hour day filled with multiple personality and behavioral interviews, as well as a role play and technical discussion. Both the role play and technical discussions are used to assess you skills as an engineer and a person. Find a route to the correct answer in both rounds or your chances to be considered further will become slim.
After the on-site interview, the recruiter contacted me about 10 days later, requesting I speak with a company VP over Skype. 5 days after that conversation I was given an offer.
It was a decently challenging interview process but it lasts over 3 months. First round is over the phone, then 2 virtual 3 hour interviews which are pretty easy and then the offer.
